This little window from one of the towers of Notre Dame Cathedral opens a restricted frame to view the city of Paris, which in some way represent the restricted view of a tourist. When I was teaching my students about Victor Hugo, I always showed them this same picture and we discussed how the author texts offered a less restricted frame for imagination, evoking awe and wonder.
